  • Meanie31 Day 7: Something you ate today

    image876184351.jpg
Day 7: Something you ate today

I love waffles when I was young. My mum is a strict believer of no-pampering of kids, hence I only gets treats like waffles on days when I'm really good or she's in a great mood.

But my waffles are forever plain ones; because mum says to pay that extra $0.30 for that little bit of filling is expensive when she could buy the whole jar of jams/peanut butter/nutella for a few bucks.

Yeah yeah I'm such a mummy's girl when I was young because I don't want to upset her. Some of my blind and ignorant family members still think this way till date, but I can't be bothered. I only have 1 mum and she got no husband to love her anymore so as her daughter I have the responsiblity to love her more.

In the past plain waffles only cost $0.50, then it gradually increases over the years till the current price of at least $1. In fact, some bakeries are selling them at $1.60 each for plain ones. (I could have ate 3 in the past!) Those with fillings cost even more, ranging from $1.30 to even $2.30 depending on the filling and the number of fillings chosen. The one that I had today, I requested for kaya (egg jam) and peanut butter and it costs me $1.60.

I love waffles. Especially those pandan flavoured ones and are crispy on the outside and mealy on the inside. Nowadays I'll buy them once a while as a snack, or as my light meals on days when I don't feel like eating much.

    What's your favourite food/snack?

    XOXO

  • My Channels

Some of you might have know about this but yes it's not official until now.

I've created 2 Youtube channels, one for all my random updates, vlogging and some interesting videos that I shoot. Another is strictly for my beauty related stuffs.
Sounds just like having 2 blogs like right now for me aye?

Okies enough with all the ramblings, here's the real deal.

    Candilicious Meanie's Randoms

Here's the channel where I have all my vloggings, random videos taken by me, some updates and bloopers from other videos. I have this gut feeling that I'll have more updates here than my beauty channel, but we shall see about that in the near future. Updates on this channel will be posted on this blog (if I do remember to post an entry for it hahaha).

    Autumn Candy

As like I've mention earlier, this is gonna be strictly for my beauty related stuffs and hence any updates will be posted on my beauty blog. So you'll most probably be expecting beauty reviews, tutorials, beauty hauls and monthly favourites here.

I haven't really get things started as in start start, but I'll try to start filming videos over the weekends or at night and see how it goes. I'm still sourcing for a cheap HD camcorder though. Mine works well for daily shooting but it doesn't comes with auto-focus and this sucks badly. All I ask for in my HD camcorder is one that has auto focus. Anyone knows of any cheap and good one to recommend?

  • Meanie31 Day 6: A representation of your day

    image204932623.jpg
Day 6: A representation of your day – what do you do?

I have a very fanciful job title - Beauty School Assistant. But behind this fancy title is the cold hard truth - I'm no different from any shitty admin officer.

Each day, I process orders from my sales team (they're a bunch of really fun woman I swear), manage the inventory, keep tracks of the samples, testers and gifts with purchase in the warehouse. On top of that, I am also the hotline girl who attends to the brand's phone enquiry and bookings of facials and appointments (and weird shite customers who called and ask weird funny questions). Other than that, I also have a lot of other adhoc duties like rotating reception duties, doing some reports, help the trainers in with their workshops (though that's my favourite but that's the least I'm doing now), chasing people to quickly finish their job so I can finish mine.

And yes, I have to deal with bitchy lazybummers and gossipers, office politics and people who looked down on me everyday because to them I'm just a lowly paid masstige admin (I usually don't bother because afterall, work isn't everything in my life and these people don't mean anything to me).

As an overall I really love my job. I get to learn and do a lot of things, I cover a bit of shipping, a bit of logistics, a bit of reception, a bit of customer service, a bit of data entry, a bit of assistant trainer, a bit of makeup artist, a bit of inventory, a bit of marketing, a bit of sales, a bit of these and that.

Anything that I don't like/love about my job? The pay.
I wish it could be higher though, that would be perfect. =P

    XOXO

  • Meanie31 Day 5: Your humble abode

    Day 5: Your humble abode

I can't really call where I'm staying now my humble abode, because that's my in-law's place and mine is still under renovation. The painters are at work now, and once they're done it'll be the kitchen cabinet's turn, follow by the electrical fans and lights.

I feel kinda frustrated with the renovations and preparations of moving into my new home because 1. too many irritating interferences and 2. too much nonsense people insisting me to heed their advice. It's like, HELLO, that's MY HOME and not YOURS so please stop INSISTING that I have to listen to ALL YOUR STUPID ADVICES.

Not only that, I'll be moving into my new place with my dominating mum (without much choice seriously). I hate her insistance of many stupid things like having to take ALL the furnitures from my aunt's house because she's moving out soon. I want my new home to look "empty like a modern home", not "packed like a collection centre". And her pestering of asking me about the updates on renovation progress is annoying; it's Joeness who's keeping track of all these but she just keep bugging me when she got Joeness number in the first place.

Also, I feel kinda given up on my aunts' interference. I don't see the reason why things like the colour of my kitchen cabinet to the layout of the living room has to follow WHATEVER my aunt says. It's no logic at all. That's MY home and not HERS. If she wants to interfere with EVERY SINGLE DETAIL of MY HOUSE then why not might as well she buy it over and say it's hers? I hate nosey pokey relatives; they're nothing but just a bunch of nuisances.

Okies the above sounds damn bitchy but trust me, you'll feel the same way as me if this happens to you.

Now all I'm praying *real hard* is my aunt to stop "brain-washing" my mum and make her FORCE me to accept every single nonsenses when that's my first home that I can proudly says it's MINE.

Anyways, forget the rantings above, pictures of my soon-to-be-ready home!

Here's the living room showing the entrance of the kitchen. I had my whole house painted ivory (lily white) and now the whole house got this zen feeling. Just great for me to meditate at home in the future!

The kitchen is still in a mess now, and the cabinets are gonna be up. I heard from my mum (she's the one who took all these photos by the way) that there's dog poo everywhere in the kitchen right now, which makes me wonder who's the kind and considerate neighbour to have let their dog come into my house while it's renovating to poop. You can leave your dog with me; I'd love to keep one anyway.

The doors to the rooms are not fixed yet, and my uncle instructed his workers to paint the doors with different colours. Kinda add some colours to the boring ivory I must say, though I'm not a fan of such colour combination. I can always repaint them myself next time. Next time next time...

    XOXO

  • Meanie31 Day 4: What’s in your bag?

Day 4: What’s in your bag?

I love carrying big bags; they never fail to give me a sense of security. With regards to the "barang-barangs" inside my bag, sometimes I feel terrible trying to arrange them in a nice order because they are always in a mess.

The bag has this 3 designs in one concept; I could carry it sling, as a tote bag or a shoulder bag. I love it because it's versatile enough for me to carry out on a daily basis.

My iPhone is a must. It's like my everything; my phone, email, xanga, twitter, game console and internet all in one. I know being too dependent on my phone is bad (especially when their battery life sucks big time) but I need this level of dependence on my phone to do work. I carry 2 phones; a spare phone just in case my iPhone batt run low.

iPod is a gift from Joeness for my birthday this year. I can't live without music; be it soul, rock or pop. I love sinking myself into music everywhere I go.

Nothing much about my wallet; it's a gift from my friend and I've been using it since early this year. Mum believes that changing wallet frequently will make one poor, hence I'm sticking to this until at least a year. I'm not comfortable with bringing cash around so most of the time my wallet is quite empty except those important cards like identity, gym membership, credit cards and amulet.

I have this habit of carrying a scheduler around to take notes, state down my appointment details and also important dates to remember (but I STILL tend to forget them lols!)

Emergency pouch was a habit since school days, and it holds all my just-in-case-I-need-it items. Inside contains some tampons, sanitary pad, some pantyliners, a condom (yes I have to be responsible for my own actions too), inhaler (just in case, I've got onset of sudden asthma attacks before) and my thumb drives (work & personal).

Items inside my makeup pouch varies because it changes according to my mood. A foundation/pressed powder is standard; I need it for mid-day touch ups.

I don't carry keys because my in law's place doesn't require keys to open the gates and my new home is still under renovation.

It's only recent that I started this habit of carrying my perfume around so that I wouldn't have the smell of food lingering on my hair and clothes. The size of this Kose's Happy Bath Day fits into the bag nicely; not being too big a bottle to carry, and too small to finish up fast.

Do you have anything similar to what I carry in my bag?

    XOXO

  • Meanie31 Day 3

Day 3: Something you bought today

    Minced Meat Rice

I've never been to Taiwan before, hence I really can't determined if this minced meat rice (鹵肉飯) really taste like the authentic one. But this stall at ION sells really tasty minced meat rice, and the milk tea that comes with it is yum yumz.

I don't shop during weekdays, and with my current pathetic pay I can't afford to shop much either. Food has always been the thing that I'll buy everyday because I don't cook at home. Eating the same thing almost everyday is boring, hence once a while I'll travel to further places to buy my lunch.

ION isn't really far from my office, but having only an hour's lunch break, a 15-minutes walk to the stall to get the food is already considered time consuming. Hence each time when I suggested minced meat rice for lunch, chances are I'll be lugging a truckload of packed minced meat rice lunch boxes back.

Just like today, I hand carried 11 boxes of packed minced meat rice, a bag of crispy chicken and 2 cups of milk tea. If not because I did not mentioned that I'll buy the milk tea too, chances are I'll be carrying 11 cups of it too. =P

Do give it a try if you're a meat lover like me. Let me know if you've tried this and if you love it like I do.

    XOXO

  • Meanie31 Day 2

    image723033713.jpg
Day 2: Someone you adore – 5 reasons why

    1. His results are FOREVER the same as mine during Secondary school days no matter how hard I tried to overtake him. But he's the one who made me work hard for my 'O' levels.

    2. He's the only friend who will have the guts to confront me in whatever things I do despite knowing my super hot temper and not afraid that I will simply flare up at the things he said.

    3. I can't stand any Gemini (including my own brother) and yet we're friends for more than a decade.

    4. I am damn stubborn but yet he is able to talk me round on wrong things that I'm determined to do and stopped me from making mistakes.

    5. He's one friend that no matter how angry I am with him, I can still forgive and forget.

Hahahaha *ahemz* if you see this, I'M SORRY I JUST CAN'T FIND A BETTER PICTURE OF YOU!!!

Honestly, I don't really have a picture taken with him. The first time we took a picture together was when we attended an Adidas event last year but unfortunately the photo was being deleted and I can't retrieve from my old laptop because it was being formatted. Ever since then we haven't got any chance to take photos together again because he hates to take photo (and I'm a camwhore).

I call myself a weird person. I have this competitive mindset during my schooling days that I want to be better than the person I aimed.
    Likely cause? Family.
Because I grew up in a very competitive family and family members ALWAYS compare results.

And when I first got to know him via IRC, I merely have one word to describe him - IRRITATING! I came to realise that each time after every exam, we end up having the same results. It's either a few points difference (but the grade is the same), or one of my subject wins him and another of his wins mine and both end up with same grading score (eg. I got a B3 for Chemistry and C5 for Physics, while he got C5 for Chemistry and B3 for Physics). We're from totally different school and if not because of IRC and the strange coincidence of scores we could still be strangers today. Despite "competiting" with him for 2 years (from Secondary 3 till GCE 'O' Levels), I still didn't win him AT ALL because we end up with SAME scores for our O levels. So much so for wasting 2 years of energy to aim at him hoping that I'll get better results and yet it comes to a tie.
    -_-"

A lot of people tell me they don't believe in platonic friendships, and between a man and a woman there's bound to be love (and sex) involved. I don't deny that I used to carry a torch for him when I was younger, but between love and friends I chose the latter because I know given my nasty character we would probably end up going on separate ways and there's no way I could find another friend like him.
Till date I'm still proud to say that for so many years of friendship, there's really nothing going on between the both of us. (He's got too many girls going GAGA over him already and given my jealousy character I would definitely blow my top over any minor things if I were his girlfriend.)

He's not my best friend but he's one guy who I know if I ever have any problems I can always find him for help (in the past). I can't recall the countless nights back then when my parents fought and I just lock myself in my room and called him and start crying like mad (pity him for not knowing anything and have to bear with me for hours). Even when I entered Polytechnic and he further his studies in a JC, I still went to him shamelessly asking him to teach me Statistic (I suck at this totally). Serves me right then that he called me A Pig's Head (猪头).

I better not praise him too much. He's still available for grabs and if because of this post he started getting a lot of disturbances I would feel bad about it *LOL*
So let's say some negative stuffs about this guy friend that I adore.

He's extremely outspoken. Trust me on this. Things that even Joeness has to think twice before confronting me, he would say it straight to me. I know it's for my own good but I'm damn stubborn (which I insisted it's determined and not stubborn) and I dislike people correcting me. Yet he still dare to say them out (for the sake of making me a better person).

Mind blank suddenly... I can't think of anything else that's bad about him!

In short, I'm glad that I have this friend for the past 11 years of my life. =)

    XOXO

  • Before & After Marriage

    image1942292274.jpg
A lot of people have been asking me this since I'm officially a Mrs Joeness last year. Being married for a year, I'm still hearing astonished tone when they get to know that I'm married.

The top 3 most common question I heard from people each time they get to know I'm married?

"You don't look like you're married!"
    "Married? Really?"
"How old are you when you get married?"

I mean, seriously, the look of a woman won't change after she's married right? No? So why tell me I don't look like I'm married?

Afterall, I do wear my ring on my finger. I address Joeness as hubb, or "my husband" in public. And I officially tick the "married" box whenever I need to fill up a personal particulars form.

And, I'm not THAT young too.

I'm 25 this year, and in another 3 month's and I'm hitting 26. A lot of my friends are already married and some even become mothers of a few kids.

Getting married at 24 isn't really a young thing, isn't it?

But people have been telling me that to be married at 24 it's considered young. =(

Probably because most people will assume that getting married young = impulse marriage/shotgun marriage. But for my case, me and hubb decided quite a while that it's about time for us to start a family. It wasn't a shotgun marriage either - even though I would love to have kids soon if I can afford financially.

Or maybe because, with the high expectations from the society, family and peers people are getting married at an older age (like 30-ish), resulting the feel that being married at 25 is young.

Married? Really?? I mean, there shouldn't be a reason why must I lie that I'm married when I think it's more beneficial for a girl to lie being single than married right? Isn't woman who are being showered with gifts/gifts from man majority single ladies? (Or at least that's how I feel personally?)

Life before and after marriage doesn't make a super big impact on me too. Other than having to address Joeness as my hubb was a bit awkward initially, nothing really changes much as to our lifestyle and habits. I still meet up with my friends, be it guys or girls, he would still leave me alone at home on Friday nights and went out for a drink or an overnight gaming session with his buddies. We still give each other some personal space despite staying together. Probably because we're already living together before we're married, which makes married life even easier to accomodate for both of us.

So next time if you see someone young and he/she says she's married, smile and tell him/her that she's blissful to find someone who love her and to settle down early. Because afterall, it's not easy to find someone whom you want to settle down with before 30. =)

    You know you hate me,

    XOXO
